Welcome

Passionate about putting our faith into action, Faithworks Poole is a Christian organisation that enables churches and organisations to demonstrate the Christian faith in real, practical ways that will benefit local communities.  We officially launched in January 2004 and became a registered charity in March 2005 (charity no. 1108714).

We seek to raise community issues using census or deprivation studies information, as well as the church’s own assessment of the needs on its doorstep, then work with local churches, Christian groups and individuals to address those needs.  This does not mean that we are merely a Christian service provider – rather we seek to offer the kind of support, often ‘behind the scenes’, that makes it possible for the local church to show God’s love directly to its community.

At the heart of our work is the belief that no single organization or church can meet all the needs of a local community, a view also reflected in the Faithworks Charter.

Malcolm Duncan, leader of the Faithworks National Movement, is coming to Bournemouth on Tuesday 27 November.  Make a note in your diary now and keep an eye on this site for more details in due course.

The underpinning theology of Faithworks Poole is not complicated – Jesus talked about loving your neighbour and that is what we are here to help churches to do.  Our challenge is to demonstrate the value of Christian distinctiveness in an age where multi-faith is more easily understood.  Our delight is seeing the lives of some of the most excluded people in Poole being touched in transformational ways as a result of local Christians rubbing shoulders with them.

The features of our projects are:

· Pioneering – they seek to provide new forms of support.

· Developmental – they evidence continuous improvement by extending the original remit of the project.

· Partnership – all demonstrate various levels of partnership with churches, the statutory sector, other charities and community or voluntary groups

· Enabling – we seek to use the skills of local people in delivering appropriate forms of support.

Faithworks Poole is not specific to any one client group but rather operates flexibly in response to the needs of any excluded people. It is a Christian organisation, but we do not preach or proselytise and we are clear that we provide services and support to all people irrespective of faith, race, disability, gender, sexual orientation etc.
